One of the more popular threads we had established on this blog before the Bundublog database fell over, was one about cancelled affiliate sales – most specifically with TrafficSynergy.

In short I expressed unhappiness that “sales” I had made for GiftDay, Auto Pedigree and Freshmeet.co.za had not been credited to my account and in fact had been “cancelled”.

That meant that of the three sales I had generated over the last four months, every single one had been cancelled.

TrafficSynergy came back and countered that:

A) The GiftDay.co.za sale was a genuine cancellation
B) The Freshmeet.co.za sale was a sign up and not turned into a paying customer
C) The Auto Pedigree sale was simply a lead and it also did not equate or turn into a sale.

Sales are hard enough to come by at the best of times and losing out on a grand is frustrating but my biggest gripe is that none of it is ever conveyed to the publisher. No message is sent out explaining why or when a sale is cancelled. As the publisher you sit there waiting for the money to be credited to your account until you have to start investigating to find out what actually happened to the sale.

Transparency is vital if you are going to do affiliate programs and this is an area that the platforms need to work on to encourage people to make use of their services.

    Hi Marc

Firstly, sorry to hear about you database issues. I hope you are able to recover all your old posts.

Secondly, I have to agree. We do realise that often we take it for granted that all affiliates are aware of the details of a campaign and the processes. Just like a mechanic explains about my cars engine problems to me!

We take your criticism as advice and will endeavor to explain the processes and explanations in more detail.

Your feedback is valuable and any other issues you may have can always be email to us or sent from within your login.

I do hope you will continue to make use of TrafficSynergy and the start reaping the rewards from your traffic(and recovered data).

I’ve seen the same thing. You make sales and then 2 months later they’re removed.

I understand cancellations, its normal in any program. but if the sale is credited then it should be paid.

I work mostly with offerforge. they mark sales as pending until approvedand this means that when youre credited its for real so you now what youre getting. your stats don’t go up and down so you can plan better.

I have seen a couple of things with TrafficSynergy over the last two years which concern me:

    1. The South African payment threshold has risen from R100 to R250. For sure its not a big deal but it is a sign that they are not rushing to get commissions through to the publishers.

    2. You can correct me if I am wrong but whenever I have submitted an invoice to TrafficSynergy I have been paid on 30 days. I see it has now been extended to 60 days. Reinforces my point 1.

    3. Again its just my sense but TrafficSynergy appear to be battling to attract decent SA advertisers. OfferForge has 40+ SA targeted campaigns, TrafficSynergy has just added Springleap but for the rest they are still offering less than 20 and many of them are old campaigns

    4. I have checked with Marc as well and he has the same thing. I thought I would take a look at my accrued commissions to check how far I was off from being able to submit an invoice and suddenly I find my accrued commissions have disappeared. Its not a big amount R200 give or take but its R200 none the less. I think Marc has submitted an invoice so will let you know once he has some feedback.
